Big thank you to all our exhibitors at our Annual Careers Fair including Smart Futures Ireland, Bank Of Ireland, KPMG, The Defence Forces, Tusla, Marine Institute, Teagasc, Galway Bay Physio, Medtronic, Ericsson and Intel. Great to see some of our brightest and best past pupils in among the
the KPMG and Intel presenters. See you all again in Spring 2019! The Board of Management were delighted to welcome Minister for Education Mr. Richard Bruton to Athenry today to turn the sod for the new school. A word of welcome was also expressed to representatives of CEIST, the Presentation Sisters, teachers, parents, students, NDFA, JJ Rhatigan and local political representatives who were in attendance. Today was a day of celebration for the culmination of the efforts of the whole school community towards the provision of new educational facilities for the students and staff.
The Presentation Sisters have been involved in the education of students in Athenry since the founding of their school in 1908. Presentation College, Athenry is one of the largest secondary schools in Ireland and currently has 1112 students enrolled. In June 2012 the school’s Trustees, CEIST, purchased the 20.3 acre site opposite the Raheen Woods Hotel, Athenry, on behalf of the Board of Management who funded the purchase through a loan. The Board of Management appreciates the continued support of the parents of the school that funds the repayment of this loan. The Board would like to take this opportunity to thank the Department of Education and Skills for their commitment to fund this New School build that will provide state of the art facilities for over 1000 students. The Board wishes the NDFA (Project Manager) and JJRhatigans (Construction) well during the building project and looks forward to the completion of the new school in the Spring of 2019. On Friday 23rd February, members of the school community were invited to visit the site of the new school building.
Great progress has been made since the building works commenced on the site in November 2017. Click here to view an album of pictures taken on the day. A huge 'Thank-you' to Barry Houlihan at the NUI Galway Archives who took wonderful care of our First Year students today. We had a fantastic time! Can't wait to go back again!
Well done to our senior team who came in 2nd place last night at The Conradh na Gaeilge Tráth na gceist, in Gullane's Hotel, Ballinasloe.
