Our Juvenile Gaelic Football team have reached the Connacht semi-final. They defeated Roscommon CBS by 2-12 to 1-4 in the Preliminary Round, then had an excellent 5-7 to 0-8 point win in the quarter final. They play The Bish in the semi on Thursday March the 30th.
Our 1st Year Gaelic Football team are having a memorable season. They beat St. Jarlath's by 2-6 to 1-2 in a tough Connacht quarter final, then won a thrilling semi-final by 4-8 to 1-10 against Summerhill, Sligo. They now face St. Gerald's, Castlebar in the A Final on Thursday 6th of April at 12.30 in the Connacht Centre of Excellence. Home Economics Week was celebrated in school from the 13th – 16th March with guests speakers invited in to reflect the diversity of the subject. Chef, Reece Grehan presented an informative and fun cookery demonstration to 4th year students, while Milliner, Cathriona King wowed our 2nd years with her fabulous creations. Cathal Mangan, Dentist spoke to all 1st years about how to care for their teeth, while beautician Theresa Earls shared with 4th years, her recipes for natural skin-care products which can be made at home. 3rd years were treated to the amazing creative talents of Anne-Marie Hovendon, assisted by Ava, her daughter in TY, whose cake-decorating techniques really impressed everyone. A great week was had by Home Ec. teachers and students alike!

Attending the CEIST Student Leadership Conference 2017 recently are Presentation College students, Eilis O'Boyle, Kateryna Kohut, Roisin Corrigan and Aoife Phillips.
As part of their course studies, our Senior Cycle Economics and Business students attended a European Union Conference at the Europe Direct Centre in Ballinasloe today, to mark the 60th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome. Along a panel of special guests, the event was addressed by Latvian Ambassador to Ireland, Dr. Gints Apals who said Britain’s departure from the group will be a challenge for Ireland but he is confident a workable solution will be found to ensure the economic links with northern Ireland will not be damaged.

The Transition Year Irish Music Society gathered at break-time today to celebrate both Seachtaine na Gaelige and St. Patrick's Day. The students included Thomas, Nicole, Saoirse, Evangeline, Fiachra and their Teacher Ms. Cotter also joined in. Well done to all involved!

Presentation College Athenry had 3 chess teams taking part in the Connacht Chess Cup recently. Congrats to our 1st years namely: Liam Kelly, Gavin Kelly, Emmet Keane and John Birhett who came second in the Novice category. Well done to our other teams namely: Oisin Davis, Brendan Bradley, Tommy Mitchell and Adam Czarnik, David Donoghue, Thomas Burke, Colin Doyle, Daniel Kelly, Ciaran McMahon and Thomas Corley.
